The lack of LoTR fic genuinely confuses me. It's probably one of the biggest fandoms of all time, and there's almost nothing? Very few aus, barely any plotty extravaganzas, not even the ghost of a kink meme hanging around.

I came here to see Frodo Baggins whumped and railed, and I'm so not having a good time right now

Have you checked LJ and FF.net? It's possible (and probable) that a lot of LotR smut went poof in the various ff.net purges and LJ strikethroughs, though.
