I often have an opposite experience, where people tell me about a show/series but are super cryptic because they don’t want to spoil it.

Meanwhile, I know I’m not going to watch/read the thing (and wouldn’t mind spoilers even if I did), but would be happy to discuss what they like about it so much, if they would just tell me what actually happens. I try to say this politely, but instead get “but you *have* to watch/read it! And I don’t want to ruin it for you!”
