I don't watch this show, just wanted to say that's some gorgeous artwork.

It is, isn't it?

I just don't get this fandom's belief that Boba the most amazing character ever. He's extremely overrated in my opinion. I like the idea of this ship, but only if it focused more on Din and he got to be the especially awesome one.

His parts in the Mandolorian were the only things that have ever made me remotely interested in the character.

I only watched the original Star Wars trilogy in full as an adult and was shocked at how little Boba Fett did in comparison to how large he looms in fan media and official merchandising!

Exactly. He's not Darth Vader. He's not Han Solo. Those two I get the obsession from those who like "cool," "badass," or "antihero" characters. He had very few lines and scenes. He looked cool I guess, but that was about it.

People loved the mystery, maybe? I dunno.

He played bigger parts in the Legends EU. Tales of the Bounty Hunters (Short stories) and Tales from Jabba's Palace (short stories,) and then Bounty Hunter Wars Trilogy. The Han Solo trilogy explained why he disliked Solo. I thought those books were pretty cool. Especially since those books were a break from Skywalker/Solo drama all the time. (Same with the X-Wing books, not focused on LUKE or LEIA or HAN.)

But then the prequels came out and while it wasn't like 100% retconned, some of it no longer made sense. Now that even Clones Wars is iffy on if it's Canon or not, we're back to original trilogy "mandalorian mystery" except whatever they decide to reveal in the Mandalorian.

Yeah, it's a little annoying that people don't see how to make two badasses, which you can do pretty easily by making them Very Good at different things. Boba in the Mandolorian does great hand-to-hand, Din is better at sharpshooting and other projectile/ranged weapons.

Yeah!!! What’s wrong with a good competent4competent ship, that’s what I always ask

Right, mutual competence is one of my favorite ship dynamics.

(Anonymous) 2021-07-05 06:42 am (UTC)(link)
This is true for all Din ships. Authors want him to be a woobie bottom who cries a lot and needs rescuing 24/7, so he's not allowed to be a competent badass anymore.
