I know! You wanna know what they really look like, watch them on TV or in a movie or something cause it's harder to photoshop.

The thing is, most of the time they look better before the photoshop, and sometimes you can see where, okay, the lighting of the shoot did some freaky things or they had a really bad skin day and the guy goes too far or something.

Michael Shanks looks better in con photos and on screen than the promo pics most of the time.

Honestly, yes. If I can actually see that shopping has happened, it is a bad shop. About 90% of the "professional" shops I see are of this variety because they just go so crazy with it. I could see editing out a zit or fixing a little bit of lighting. But most of what they do is a few steps away from just using cg models.

Seriously. Especially why they try to make him muscle-y and buff to match Teal'c and use DRAMATIC LIGHTING XD I like him as a geeky archaeologist. /liked the movie

I'll bet you that half of the fan artists in fandom who have any kind of familiarity with photoshop could do better than them.

And yeah, Daniel Jackson is a geek, I mean sure he's good at some of the secret soldiery stuff now but he's still a geek not Teal'c.

Though I've never seen any of the 'before photoshop' images of him when they did that (which seemed to be mostly S7), just the S10 ones.

Likely. Because they'd go at it less with a wrecking ball and more with a scalpel.

Oh, of course (I stopped watching around season seven because of schedule conflict, but the point still stands), and archaeologists do have muscles, but it looked, in a few promo shots, as though they were trying to make his squishy arms muscly and that just didn't go so well.

I haven't seen the "before" pics either (not even sure how one would go about finding them), but reality > photoshop either way XD

For sure. There's some who don't really need it in that regard (Jason Momoa who plays Ronon on SGA is massive and has plenty of muscle of his own). And some who.... don't need it cause they look fine as their own selves.

And some would tell you that was a great time to stop watching SG-1 but if you can, watch the rest of it. There's some interesting and funny stuff you'll miss otherwise.
