Since they keep asking, I am going to guess that either they don't understand your explanation well enough to be able to write about it in detail or they're aiming for a specific plot beat and if they write the technical stuff too accurately, it won't work.

If you just want them to knock it off, ignore this. But if you like being asked and are just sick of being ignored, maybe ask them why they're keeping it vague?
Depending on what their problem is, the solution might just require one or both of you to rephrase things slightly.
