I think that pretty natural. Being around the same age gives people a foundation of understanding and (as a fresh 30-something myself) a different stage of maturity.
Like, I can't devote myself obsessively (mentally or timewise) like I could when I was a teenager and my thoughts are on both a firmer foundation and more nuanced than when I was younger.
