I do wish people would stop asking actors about ships, especially fanon ones that we all know will never happen, because it rarely works out and ends up awkward as hell. But I also don't think actors have to like these ships either? They are allowed to be annoyed about being asked about something that isn't an intentional part of their character, especially if they get asked about it a lot.

Idk, I just want that fourth wall back personally. I don't need actor approval to like my ships.

I agree. I mean, it's cool if they volunteer support of a ship but it's really not necessary.

NAYRT - Yeah, I absolutely LOVE when the creator/actors are voluntarily supportive (I was never in the Hannibal fandom but it always made me really happy to see the genuine fondness and support the fandom got from the creator and actors). But if they don't voluntarily talk about it, I wish everyone would just leave them alone about it. Let them pretend it doesn't even exist if they want to.

I also don't care how actors feel about ships. Creators of shows, sure, but not actors. I do have mixed feelings about the fourth wall coming down. I feel like if creators see fan support for pairings and it enables them to naturalistically put the characters together, that's kind of cool, but most of the time it seems to lead to either shallow pandering and no real ship development or the creators disavowing it as strenuously as possible.

I honestly can't even think of a ship that was put together this way, which is why I find the fan campaigning or demands to 'make x canon' to be absurd. If it's not in the text it won't suddenly appear just because we like it, that's not how that works, and shouldn't be imo. Let the creators have their vision and we can play with it in our own space.

The popularity of Hannigram seems to have pushed Bryan Fuller as he started out denying homoerotic readings before changing his tune later on. In a general sense though, I've mostly seen it culminate in the creators playing up to it, teasing it, and abandoning it.
