What are your least favorite changes between adaptations?

Changing the setting of Dark Is Rising to the United States

...you what now. Well that's that ruined. :(

You say this as if anything else about it was a good change when in fact, it was all bad start to finish.

That change is bad enough that none of the other changes matter. Yeah sure they made other bad choices, but it was already dead at that point.

Just...everything about World War Z but especially the fast zombies.

The American adaption of Death Note. My expectations weren't even that high but jesus christ was that a mess.

They definitely fucked up that adaptation, but the Ferris wheel scene remains one of the funniest things I’ve ever seen.

The music choice for that scene was so hilariously bad I can't believe it wasn't done on purpose, they had to know it was ridiculous right.

I had no expectations but wow it was worse than I'd imagined

1. "All a dream" in Wizard of Oz.

2. Making the wicked witch of the west a hero in Wicked/making the Wizard a full-on villain

3. So many things in the Hobbit. just, so many things.

4. Several things in LOTR. Elrond's casting is a big one and the changes to his character. The whole look and feel where everything looks young and new rather than aged as it should. the changes to Faramir's character. Just, so many things.

5. Jurassic Park- bugs me that they changed Hammond's character. I liked the evil book version.

6. The change to the end of I Am Legend, which ruins the title and the story.

7. the fact that we've never had a good Wrinkle in Time adaption much less had any of the other books in the series adapted.

I Am Legend's last minute change was so frustrating.

The further away I get the more I dislike the founding lineup of the MCU Avengers. Or maybe it's just Janet Van Dyne. I think the MCU *really* needed a Janet Van Dyne in Phase One.

The Watch - Just. Everything. Lady Sybil should be middle aged and sturdily built and kind of oblivious. Cheery Littlebottom should have been short (also any (or every!) other character could have been non-binary while Cheery's story of a female identifying being in a society/species/field AND job that were all heavily masculine was really important to me as a girl with heavily masculine dominated interests/goals so I didn't appreciate that change.) And Vimes, oh man. I wish I could go back and pry the license to Discworld out of the hands of these creators. Just make an original product! It might have even been good!

Going Postal - I didn't like that Vetinari threatened to execute Moist so publicly. I much prefer good 'ole Havelock to be as subtle as a pure black coach.

Harry Potter - At the time I hated how awful Dumbledore was in the movies. Looking back it might have been some 5th dimensional chess type foreshadowing and I don't mind as much.

Game of Thrones - I didn't like how they'd veer of from the book version (Arya meeting Papa Lannister, Jaime and Brienne returning before the Purple Wedding, Yara/Asha trying to rescue Theon) only to snap back to the book plot despite it not making sense any more. Either don't make changes or ride those changes to their logical conclusion.
