There are some things like this for me too, OP. When my mom died, I couldn't deal with anything that reminded me of her. Like, if an actor has eyes as blue as hers, music she liked, movies we watched together, TV shows she liked or told me about. It's been nine years now and I still avoid some things that trigger memories.

Ever since I lost my bunny, I haven't been able to watch How To Train Your Dragon because the first time I watched it, she was sitting in my lap and I remember thinking abou how lucky I was to have her.

Anyway, what I mean is that I do relate and wish you the best.

OP I am SO very sorry. As someone who has lost pets, you will eventually be able to return to them it will be bittersweet, but it won't hurt so much one day, and at some point you will actually be able to smile remembering watching with them.

I have recently lost a pet (February) and it's very hard to do things without him. The other dog and I have a different relationship and at the end, my boy had become far more cuddly, so I miss that as my girl isn't a cuddly dog.

My cat died at the beginning of the year (literally New Year's Day) & everything still reminds me of him. He used to watch The Great British Baking Show with me (when I wasn't home but my roommate was, he'd watch it with her). It took me months to be able to watch again - it's my comfort show & I have it on as background noise most of the time, but for months I simply couldn't. I'm able to wach it again within the last month or two. It reminds me of him, still, but it's not as raw.

I get what you're going through, OP. It sucks.

I know that pain. Feels like an empty void in your soul that you desperate wish was whole again. Hurts like hell for the first weeks but you will learn to cope. You will never forget your buddy, they'll always have a special place in your heart where they will always live on, but the pain becomes more manageable.
