I'm not going to give you a hard time over this. If the name didn't jive, it didn't jive. Sometimes cutesy made up fantasy names don't jive.

Plus, Sword of Shannarra is really long and basically a rip off of LoTRs. The series are 2 different genres. It's okay if you liked the portal fantasy better than the secondary world fantasy.

Brooks made plenty of money off of both. Of the two series, I'd probably read Magic Kingdom again over Shannarra mainly b/c Magic Kingdom was more interesting and I didn't feel like I was reading the same story over and over like I was in Shannarra. I just remember wanting to thump the characters in Shannarra over the head more than the characters in Magic Kingdom. Alanon was one of them. He didn't ever really work for me as a character.

Honestly, I know that's what he was going for but it reads more like a G-rated DND campaign tie-in novel.
