146: H/D is my HP fandom OTP too, OP. Lol, um, there's a tonne of reasons why I dislike H/G as a pairing though. Idk, the main thing was JKR's insinstance that Harry and Ginny ~*~WENT ON THIS EPIC JOURNEY TOGETHER~*~.

Wat. I still don't get that! ^^;. Like a certain very pretentious, pessimistic forum thread is named: Harry/Ginny. So boring even JKR forgot to write it.

But Ginny had so much potential to be awesome, I don't hate on anyone who likes her or the H/G pairing and sort of make :| faces at people who say they do. Each to their own and all, right? :D

re 146, I think Ginny had great potential! But then JKR couldn't figure out what she wanted to do with her. :( She she just kind of changed every book to whatever Harry needed. Sometimes she was the cute girl with a crush. Sometimes she was the sassy flirt that makes him feel all strange in his pants. And SOMETIMES she's the Mary Jane to his Spiderman.

In other words, a girl who's just the reflection of the main guy's needs is boring. (But I don't actually ship either of them with anyone, sooo...)

I really liked when she was on the quidditch team, haha, Idk why I just thought that was awesome. But then it was sort of shoved down our throats all of a sudden that'Ginny is awesome! Ginny can do a super duper batbogey hex!' and then we never actually got to see her do anything and I was just D: JKR STOP BEING LAZY AND ACTUALLY WRITE YOUR CHARACTER. Instead of, y'know, just telling us she's perfect.

Buuuut I don't even like the series that much, the fandom just writes some pretty great fic ^^;;.

I will admit that I liked when she was on the quidditch team if just because Luna was doing commentary and that was like THE BEST THING IN THAT BOOK. my only real ship was Neville/Luna, and for like 3 days it was canon. wryyy jkr. oh, and sirius and remus but that was all shoebox project's fault.

I liked the first four books, but after that...not so much. My theory is that JKR started reading fanfiction. Her later books (especially where romance was concerned) read JUST LIKE ONE. And not even a particularly good fanfic.

LOL YES. Luna is the only character I feel stayed awesome throughout the series and I really like to forget the last three books exist, hee. I meant to say that I liked that she was *on* the quiddich team, I just thought that was cool but then WOAH FLY INTO THE COMMENTATOR STAND IN A RAAAAGE and we're supposed to love her for it :| At least fanfiction can make Ginny cool? ^^

Neville/Luna was actually the only pairing I was rooting for too. Also Ginny/Neville and Draco/Neville for the lulz (I just pimp Neville out to everyone ^^) But Neville/Luna has to be one of the most potentially epic fan pairings I've ever encountered, they're both so amazing.

To be honest, I hate that JKR wrote this big freakin' FAMILY TREE after it XD. It's like, wtf, we don't need this. What is the point in Astoria Greengrass, why are you telling us this!?, lol Scorpius Hyperion Malfoy, wait George married Angelina Johnson, creepy, *braindead* Haha, Harry Potter was listed on the top 100 must-reads ever and I face-palmed.

For like a couple days it wasn't even a fan pairing! JKR said that there was a high likelihood of them getting together after the series! She just...changed her mind. And married her off to Sir Not-Appearing-In-This-Book. She said that Luna would just scare Neville which made me wonder if she read her own books. He led a freaking rebellion! Surely a bit of Loony Lovegood wouldn't freak him out too much. :(((

Yeaaah. It's nice that she had everything planned out, but I think it was overkill. Especially because everyone's writing next gen fic and that really annoys me. There's nothing to base it off of! Lame. orz (And the George/Angelina thing WAS creepy.)

I think that HP is important in a cultural way and the first few are a fun read...but not high art. :/

It's like a switch went off in JKR or she just took some crazy pills...^^ Her take on Neville/Luna just made me so sad right now. I know people take different perspectives on things, and it's her series so this is definitely immature saying this (XD), but that was lame. Also, it's like, what's the point in mentioning Luna gets married or Draco's wife's name? I'm just someone who's like, if it's not written in the actual book canon then I kinda disregard it ^^; Nobody else probably cares, haha.

Yeah, it's like...The first four, while I don't think JKR's a great writer, they're brimming with imagination and she created a wonderful fictional universe which I absolutely love.

But it's not something I'd really rec out to anyone as a must-see, more like it's pretty enjoyable for people looking for a fun read? I just don't think it should be ranked with the other real classics that were listed (However, I seriously thanked God in my head when I saw that Twilight wasn't there ^^;;)

I pretty much ignore it too, ha ha. I'm more into the fanfiction than the series anyway. And as immature as I feel saying it (auuugh I feel like a Harmonian), I feel like she was completely ignoring the characterization she put into both of them when she said that. Neville went through so much character growth! It's like in her mind he's still that nervous wreck from the first few books and not the bamf he was at the end.

It's so true. I adore Goblet of Fire and Prisoner of Azkaban especially. And then they just kind of...petered out into an attempt at darkness and real-world trauma. Goshdarnit, that's why I started reading a lighthearted fantasy!

Oh, I doubt it should've been. XD I guess my only argument in its defense is that it's something you should know about culturally. It's such a huge part of these past few decades. XD

the "h/g are soulamtes" thing pissed *me* off and i usually can't even work up enough interest on h/g to care about it one way or the other. the whole relationship came off as so shallow and uninteresting that jkr's insistence that that have a meaningful history together strikes me as a load of bs.

well, to be quite honest I didn't ship H/G until the final battle when Harry was walking towards his death. The whole time I was screaming in my head "GO TO HER! KISS HER! SOMETHING!" The whole book just changed so many of my opinions on characters.

And of course I really enjoyed the fiendfyre scene. :D

It changed my opinion on characters too (Neville officially became badass and my favorite character apart from Luna) buuuut it also changed my opinion of some people in a negative way ^^;; But that's another story!

I do feel JKR caved and gave us a little treat there, haha ^^
