It reminded me of how I would get picked on in school for the most asinine made up reasons that jocks could come up with, so naturally I wasn't that fond of "DOING IT WRONG" haha.

Real nerds are much more funny and bizarre than these scripts anyway. I am pretty sure though that they felt they had to do it from that POV to make the typical sitcom watcher laugh - and, well, there's your main audience right there.

Exactly, general audiences wouldn't connect with really-really nerdy humor ala something like MST3K. I have been a nerd my entire life, my Dad jokes that I am a chip off the old nerd. Ha!

I think Big Bang Theory and the statements we have just discussed is what has me so worried about the remake of SPACED they are doing/wanting to do. I could handle The Office being remade but... but...

All I can see is it turning into something like BBT and set to make the basic sitcom audience get a good laugh instead of the true target audience. D: Oh I fear it haha.
