I was thinking this the other day. Weird

I like Discovery, but they're so boring when they're together.

I don't have whichever of the streaming services necessary to watch it, sadly, but while representation is nice, it doesn't mean everyone in every group represented is going to like every instance of representation.

I mean I'm pretty sure that not every straight person likes every straight romance portrayed in TV/movies. And glad as I am when asexuality is acknowledged, doesn't mean I like every ace character or will watch shows just because they have an ace characters. They get some points for it but doesn't mean they're going to be a good show necessarily.

DISCO has a lot of those points for various things they're apparently doing on the show, but I can't say I actually know whether it or any of its characters/relationships is any good or not. (I watched the premiere because it aired on actual CBS affiliates, and thought it had promise, but that's it.)

I made some oatmeal a couple weeks ago that was really really good, with cocoa and peanut butter. But it was maybe just a little too sweet, so I thought to offset that with some sea salt.

Somehow accidentally dumped about half a tbsp of salt into the very small bowl.

Ate it anyway because I probably needed salt too, but man. I wished I had left well enough alone.

Never been to Philly (yet) but mmm DC. I want to go back there sometime and actually look around, I went there for all of a weekend a couple years ago and just the couple blocks around my hotel was neat.

This weekend...probably staying close to my bun-bun who has taken a turn for the worse. Every so often I have to calm him down so he stops rolling over in a panic, then get him settled on his feet again. Did that all night the last two nights so I haven't slept and am not in any shape to go anywhere anyway. Got a lot of fanfic editing done today though and am about to upload the epilogue to one story... think I may try to finish another story I started about 7 years ago when my health was so distracting I could only manage about a paragraph at a time.

I don't know what this is, but what's the age gap? Is the redhead in this pic the woman in question because from the grey hair and eye crinkles I probably wouldn't have put the gap at maybe more than 5 to 10 years?

I don't know. It's clear that there are some relationships where the age gap and power differential is legitimately sketchy. But that's obviously not the case in every such relationship, and at a certain point you also have to respect the woman's agency. Ultimately it's up to her if she wants that relationship.

I've only seen a handful of clips but it seems all right, and appropriate for its audience. True, even with cameos from other folks, it isn't the same without Sam. (But I can't blame Jennette for not wanting to return. She's had it pretty rough.)

Vegetable soup with some kind of nameless sludge, hopefully pureed veggies, in the bottom of the mug. One mouthful was more than enough.

I was making mushroom goulash. I forgot I was making mushroom goulash. It turns out that burned mushrooms are not very tasty at all.

Chinese food from a restaurant near work that made me really nauseous.

My sister's bridal shower is this weekend, so I have to grab a box of chocolates or something to gift her for that. Other than that I am way behind on some writing work I picked up, so I'll probably be doing that the rest of the weekend.

Lots and lots of sleep and rest. Between my 10 block walk to and from court on Wednesday and then packing and carrying two heavy suitcases down a flight of stairs on Thursday, my back is really painful. It has been spasming all day. So 'll be taking lots of meds and staying in bed as much as possible.

Spending time with my kitty.

And then watching episodes of Babylon 5 and Doctor Who. Not sure what eps yet, just some of my favorites.

My thoughts exactly. I can respect that Dicovery just isn't my thing, but their relationship just doesn't feel interesting enough for me to get invested in. By comparison I felt more drawn to the relationship dynamics between Garak and Bashir or Picard and Q, and they weren't even 'official.'

did something happen on LJ recently other than it being more dead than usual? I ended up leaving in 2012 because every community I followed stopped dead (I did use to check on ontd right up until the Russian TOS update which made me panic and delete my account) - I'm just surprised to see a few people recently mention how dead LJ is right now.

we're clearly not meant to be on the side of the homophobes and racists. The rape jokes are cringey though (and I also love this movie!)

My Mum's version of a Victoria Sponge cake that was cut up into squares and thrown into a bowl with a dollop of jam. She keeps thinking she can bake - like I would never tell her that it was bad, but it's become impossible to avoid eating them and would end eating them stale after a week.

going back to my favorite karaoke bar on Sunday after a very long covid induced absence. (I have to wait till Sunday because the only thing I don't like about this place is one guy who works there, but he never works on Sundays.)

I like a lot of the individual characters on Discovery, but man their romances really do just suck. Which tbh does give me a bit of a laugh because it's equal opportunity dull at least? Saying that they're not so bad they make me annoyed or anything, I'm just politely uninterested in the couples on this show while I enjoy the rest of it, so hey, could be worse.

I've been watching and re-watching a LOT of GameGrump animations, even though I very rarely ever watch their full gameplay episodes.
