It's a fun show and all the parts she's in are good (and she's good of course), but they saddle her with a dreadful wet fart of a boyfriend so...mixed, really.

I want to defend Newt! He's a pretty good guy, he means well, and it's actually his incompetence that saves the world. He's so bad at things he manages to shut down the global networks of nuclear war when Anathema was smart enough to ask him to fix them.

BUT his ability to fuck up computers without even being near them even though he loves them is a staple in urban fantasy.

He's so completely harmless. And also pretty cute.

I loved how they updated Newt's character to show how much more serious not being able to use a computer is these days versus in 1990 where it was an inconvenience at most.
