AYRT--regular fluoride toothpaste is helping a lot, tbh. My parents were old hippies into alternate medicine back when Tom's of Maine was pretty much the only no fluoride toothpaste and because my dad didn't trust fluoridated city water, we went to the mountains once a week and loaded up water from a public horse trough on a hiking trail... It's how I learned what "non-potable" meant and I probably picked up new parasites with every sip.

I even went to an alternative dentist. I'm sure they loved having patients who didn't use fluoride because it made us gold mines.

Once I was able to buy my own toothpaste and cook with tap water (still drink bottled stuff but there's nothing swimming in it, huzzah) the pace at which I developed new cavities slowed way down, but I still got a few in my 20s.

I figure my body was frantically storing rat poison and now has caught up. I have one discolored spot on a molar that may develop into a cavity but nothing showed on my x-rays.

When I think of all the cavities I wouldn't have if I'd used normal toothpaste as a kid... sigh.
