What are some shows/movies you love but didn't on rewatch?

I loved the whole Lord of The Rings trilogy. So incredibly beautiful and well acted but way to long to ever rewatch. I get ants in my pants at a 2 hour movie.

Most of the anime I enjoyed as a kid was absolute trash. Especially Pokemon and Yu-Gi-Oh.

The Princess Bride. I recall loving it as a kid, but re-watching it as an adult outside of a few funny lines I found it really boring and tedious to get through. Dunno what part of me decided it's no longer fun but that was a bit of a downer to experience.

Pretty much any super depressing movie that is good. I'll watch once, when I'm in the right mental place, but I can't rewatch unless it has a happy or at least semi-happy ending most of the time.

I enjoyed Nolan's Batman trilogy, but Begins is the only one I've wanted to rewatch.

I loved House like the secret OP, but everything post-season 4 ruined my enjoyment enough that I haven't rewatched often. And Bones is even worse because everything post-get together just gets worse and worse and it totally ruined any enjoyment I had of the earlier seasons. No desire to rewatch.

Hobbit trilogy. Every time I rewatched I liked less and then disliked more until now I don't really want to rewatch because I spend the whole time annoyed.

Stargate:Atlantis. First time I loved it right up until they got rid of Elizabeth. But on rewatches I find most of the characters unlikable from the beginning.

95% of the stuff I've watched, honestly. I enjoy things but only very, very rarely do I get the urge to rewatch stuff again, and if I do it's usually not until years after I saw it for the first time.

I'm completely the opposite. I generally don't call a piece of media great unless it is something I want to rewatch. Good for me means I want to watch over and over again.

I feel this. I do like rewatching stuff I love, but only if I can watch it with someone else--preferably someone who's never seen it before. Someone who has seen it before and is also a big fan usually works too. I very rarely want to rewatch something without adding a new person to the mix, though. Which is unfortunate because I don't have a lot of friends, and the friends I do have don't like the same stuff as me.

Yes, I'm the same - I enjoy rewatching things if it's with someone who has never seen it before, or someone else who has also already seen it but loves it too. A friend and I are rewatching an old TV show together and it's a lot of fun because we'll watch an episode or two and then chat about it with each other, which makes it feel like a new experience even though we've both already seen the show before.

Also, I guess I should add that I do enjoy rewatching things if it's something that has a twist. For stuff like that, it's fun to go back and look for all of the foreshadowing leading up to it.

I still really like Veronica Mars, but on rewatch I was shocked by how episodic it was, and how much filler there was, and how horribly clunky and dated Veronica's voice overs felt.

TV was so episodic and, for the most part, kind of fluffy at the point in time when VM came out, so when I watched it back then I remember being very impressed by how strong the seasonal arcs were (especially S1 and 2), and how nuanced and non-fluffy it was, especially for what was, ostensibly, a teen show. Watching it again in 2020, it was still good, but it felt less subtle and complex than the majority of the current shows I was watching around the same time, and I was a bit disappointed about that.

Everything becomes dated in time, though.

Cobra Kai, especially after rewatching season 3. The rewatch made me realize I didn't like the third season so I rewatched the first 2 seasons. And IDK if it was S3 that tainted the whole show or if it's been sorta crappy the whole time (the good stuff was new and surprising so I overcompensated) but I can't stand that show anymore. I was a big fan too. ☹

I remember when I was younger I thought Ferris Bueller's Day Off was hilarious. Turned it on since it happened to be on TV last year and realized he pissed me off way too much to watch the whole thing.

The Closer -- I remember loving it at the time it was airing but recently there was a channel running a marathon and it just... wow; I wasn't feeling it at all for some characters.

I loved My Fair Lady as a kid and a recent FS secret inspired me to rewatch it. The songs aren't quite as magical for me anymore, but what changed the most was how uncomfortable I felt about how Eliza is treated.

The starkest example is probably when the maids locking her in a bathroom and pulling off her clothes while she screams is framed as a joke. I guess I'm pretty sensitive to privacy and bodily autonomy stuff these days.

almost every TV show I loved when I was a kid, I looked back on as an adult and wondered why I thought this was so cool, and that includes TV shows that weren't meant to be for kids.
