Yeah, the ending was something I wasn't a huge fan of either (at least on Bran's part because he had this incredibly strong connection to it all and he was cheated the most imo, especially since he never was told "Full disclosure, if you don't go with your King dad we'll erase all of your memory").

But on the other hand... I thought it was kinda interesting because a general underlying theme was that the Light is not actually nice and generally pretty cold and unfeeling and "them's the rules, no negotiations" so it was only consistent, even though I didn't like it.

And there was lots of great fix-it fic back in the day (including an amazing one that basically managed to fix it while still sticking to the rules of the novels so that was pretty cool).
