125) To start, if you're looking for "canon proof" that Azula is a lesbian, you're kind of missing the point of how slash ships actually work in fandom, as well as the realities of American children's television. (Even if the creators had intended her to be a lesbian, they wouldn't have been able to make it a concrete and undeniable part of the show. Think Sozin's so-obvious-many-consider-it-canon-but-never-explicitly-stated unrequited love for Roku, you know?)

That said: where is this het-ship-bashing taking place? Because I've never seen it? I've seen people make good-natured fun of various crack ships because they're cracky (Azula/Haru, for instance) but I've never seen anything like what you seem to be talking about.

There's also some of the stuff with Aang and Zuko in "The Firebending Masters", and a quick ref in "Ember Island Players" (the bit with "Aang" and "The Blue Spirit")...

Yes, exactly. It's hard to say which of these things were intended as actual subtext and which were just the staff being silly, but regardless -- it's the closest the show could get to actually discussing homosexuality, seriously or otherwise.

125: There are people who show no respect for this.Go there and find out about things like that:

- Giving the Avatar movie to M. Night Shymalan

- Het Azula pairings

Well...personally (and I'm saying this as someone who ships slash AND het) I don't think that's meant as bashing so much as support of Azula femslash? I think slashers, particularly femslashers, particularly in Avatar fandom, see themselves as such a tiny minority that they don't always consider how their phrasing might come across. That doesn't excuse being rude, but in the scheme of ship-bashing in general this is very tame, as well as non-specific. I doubt they wanted to make anyone feel badly! :(

Well, as a Sokkla shipper I can tell that *sometimes* Azula slashers get specific about that.

Well, I've been into the HP fandom (the worst I've seen so far) and House MD among others, and I've been offended in so many ways, but having experience in another fandoms does not make it less offensive, for me, that is.

Just popping in to say that Avatar ship wars are very, very ugly. Much nashing of teeth, blood shedding, etc. Right down to the part where fans have sent death threats to the creators, who in turn sank the rival ship with a video at ComicCon.

You're lucky you're not apart of it. :D

IAWTC. Especially the Sozin bit. XD Rozin is the most canonical slash ship in the series. ~~And Bakoda is the second most canonical... >_>~~
