God yes. I love Dishonored’s universe. You can see all the historical and fictional influences in it, you can see the 19th century New England whaling industry, you can see the British Empire just as it reaches the tipping point of overreach, you can see the feast of Saturnalia, you can see the Masque of the Red Death, the hints of Soviet-era Russia in the religion and aesthetic, and it all filters together into this grimy coherent picture of a 1900s-feeling decaying oceanic empire, an industrial electrical revolution built on the blood and oil of lovecraftian whales, with a background of witchcraft, puritanism and a satanic whale god, and a society on the brink of overindulgent collapse while its own sins literally ravage it, all sitting in the cosmology of an oceanic void full of nothing but oddly gentle chaos.

It’s a universe with oomph, is what it is. I love it.

I want to take your reply home and whisper sweet nothings into its ear.

This sounds really cool. I may have to read up on this world, even though I don't play games. There are several video game series where they were interesting enough to me that I read all about their world and stories and even bought some books.
