I mean, if it's any consolation, they only wrote one book together. So however good the collaboration, they still went back to doing their own stuff afterwards....

I don't hate him, but I've grown to dislike him more every time I rewatch. For me it is that he's arrogant and self-focused even when he's doing the right thing. And he's just dull. Honestly I love Angelus and wish that we'd gotten less of Angel and more of Angelus.

That being said, I still ship all combos of Buffy/Angel/Spike and also all Fanged Four combos. Even though Angel bugs me a lot, he still has lots of chemistry with everyone.

I come at this from both sides. On the one hand, there are some fics I remember that I really wish were still online. But on the other hand, as an author, my early fics were terrible, and I'm glad they aren't online to embarrass me anymore. Not that anyone wants to read my old fics, because no one does. But I understand why better authors still want to remove their stuff.

So, while I wish those fics I remember were still online, ultimately I get why authors take fics away. Even orphaned, they are still online to make you feel embarrassed, and it is totally possible that it could be traced back to you somehow.

I really dislike Boreanaz but I also prefer Angel to Buffy

Boreanaz as a person is terrible. Also, his next big role was as a character who was a terrible person that the show (Bones) always portrayed as right, even when he wasn't. So to a certain extend I do think maybe this colors how I see Angel on rewatches. He is really great at playing evil, though. Angelus is a whole lot of fun.

When done right, book collaborations are really great. There are some really great books out there where two authors combined their strengths and balanced out each other's weaknesses.

I also love it when a new author gets the chance to play in the first author's world. Seeing a new take on the same world and worldbuilding is a lot of fun, though again only when done right. For example, I've enjoyed a lot of different authors playing with Lovecraft's ideas and world. I like to see the takes of different authors on the Star Wars universe. And I actually thought Sanderson's Wheel of Time books were awesome (then again Sanderson is already an author I really like).

I do this now. Some of the fics I miss have been gone too long, though, because they were from when I was a kid, and I didn't really save things on my computer back then. One of them, one of my favorite fics ever, I'd actually printed off at one point, but I lost the print off copy years ago in one move or another.

worldbuilding

What are some pieces of media that you think have great worldbuilding, and what do you love about it? Can be tv show, movie, book, video game, comic, whatever.

And what sorts of things do you look for in worldbuilding in general, or what sorts of worlds are an automatic draw for you?

I think there's definitely a whole class of actors who fall into that category - guys who are genuinely talented but all they want to do is play the smart, charming, clever guy who's right about everything, and when they do it comes off as unbearably smarmy and smug. Bruce Willis is another guy I can't stand for that exact reason.

I personally find parasocial relationships kinda weird. But I also think it doesn't really matter what we think about them. Parasocial relationships and influences are the future of culture whether we like it or not.
