AYRT--not really? Sometimes I'll eat a few little pieces alternating with grapes or something, but I'd rather use it in pesto or risotto. But I've seen it used on cheese boards with crackers and fruit and salami and whatnot so people probably do. By itself it seems a little dry and salty to snack on.

If you've seen it on cheeseboards then I'm going to guess you're an American.

AYRT--yep. I know it's not used that way, well, pretty much anywhere else, to the point where even my dumb American ass went O.o o.O the first couple of times I saw it as a suggestion in cookbooks.

It's definitely an off label use heh.

I've seen it on a charcuterie board in Canada too, so it's not just an American oddity. Parmesan definitely wouldn't be my first choice of cheese to pair with fruit, crackers or bread though.
