Yeah, I'm gonna say your friends are the weird ones. Not only has that been a "traditional" snack since I was a kid, but often people would add raisins and call it "ants on a log".

I never liked it because I don't like celery (just tastes like water, and then there are the STRINGS; ironic that I hate celery when I live in a town known as "Celery City", hahah) but I was generally considered weird for not eating it. XD
