Some recent ones I really enjoyed are Thelma (2017) and The Wolf House (2018). Thanks for the good food, Criterion Channel.

The Thing is my number one horror movie of all time. Alien and Aliens are both great. A Nightmare on Elm Street and The Fog are a bit dated but I still love them. For newer films, Pontypool, The Conjuring, Get Out, and The Ritual.

As a non-horror fan, I still really liked Ravenous (1999).

Ravenous is AWESOME.

I love that in the actor commentary, during the last fight, Robert Carlyle says (of Boyd and Ives) "Just kiss already."
Heee!

Robert Carlyle's commentary is included on the bluray if you can get your hands on it!

Cabin in the Woods
V/H/S 2
Murder Party
Rosemary's Baby
Shaun of the Dead
Zombieland
Psycho
Oculus
XX
the Conqueror Worm (also known as the Witchfinder General)
the Wicker Man (the uncut original, NOT the Nic Cage piece of shit)
Sixth Sense
It Follows
Misery
there are probably more but I'm too tired to think of them

It Follows
Rec.
Oculus
The Descent
Pontypool
The Ring
28 Days Later - The narrative sensibilities of this one have always made it feel like more of an existential film than a horror movie to me—yet it is very much a horror movie, too.
