For clarity, "pull engagement away" is because QRTs are considered an entirely separate post as far as likes/RTs are concerned, so any likes on your QRT do not count towards the original post's likes. Users have to manually go to the original post to like it, and you'd be surprised how lazy people are about a single extra click.

That makes sense, thanks! I always retweet before I QRT. But I still suck at Twitter, so I was worried I was still doing it wrong.

…who cares? My fannish engagement doesn’t exist to generate internet points for someone else?

If the person you're taking views from is an artist selling their work or looking for work, they need people to be able to find them easily. People are lazy and not everyone will go hunting for an artist or creator that someone else posts work from.

This is fandom. Fandom is, by definition, noncommercial. If someone is trying to make money off of it, it is sure as hell not my job to help them.

AYRT--people can and do commission artists for original work based on liking their fanart.

Okay, well again, not my job to drum up support for businesses?
