man, i've stayed in plenty of toxic communities because i was lonely, didn't have any friends and didn't think i would find any new ones if i left. when you're desperate for human connection you put up with a lot of shit.

Analog Clocks

(Anonymous) 2021-08-11 11:36 pm (UTC)(link)
What are your thoughts on it?

I'm writing background stuff on a fic and I began wondering if learning how to read alalog clocks was still taught in schools. And then I fell into a bit of a rabbit hole.

Read that some people say 1st/2nd grade students aren't prepared to learn something so complex. Some say it's not needed anymore. Others say it's a task that can be useful in math and for visual learners. Not all places have digital clocks so it wouldn't hurt to learn.

Personally, I'm in my mid 30s and I recall LOVING learning how to read analog clocks in 2nd grade. I don't think it's that hard of a skill to pick up but I do realize my experience/worldview isn't like everyone else's. I think we should all learn it, though if someone really struggles to learn it, I wouldn't push it onto them.

Smart Watches!

Do you have one? How do you like it? Samsung just released their newest smart watch and I was eyeballing the $250 one but that is such a big purchase. But I really do want a fitness tracker and to be able to do contactless payments.

I recall having fun learning to read them. I think it is probably still important to learn (unlike cursive).

I mean, you don't necessarily have to get over it and appreciate the original. I can think of a handful of songs where I prefer a cover version to the original. It happens.

I'm 30, and I think we learned how to in 1st or 2nd grade, but I struggled with reading analog clocks until 4th grade. Now I'm mildly obsessed with old watches, so like it paid off for sure. I do think it's a useful skill to have.

Don't let it stop you, nonny! I'm no great shakes at making secrets either, but I decided to try because the community was getting a little quiet and low traffic. I'd been mostly a lurker until that point, but I just wanted to help. Others recommended these editing sites:

http://www.befunky.com
http://www.picfont.com

Google image search for the pics, filter for size to get a nice big picture.

Mee toooo. And I forgot my imgur account info. For some reason that hat trick of tired, bad at it, and password problems seems to feel like a much larger hurdle than it should be.

Maybe this'll be the poke I need to just do it.

Do you mean you're coming down against antis or you're on their side?
