I should have prefaced that with a few warnings actually:

- DO NOT do this with hot coffee. The stuff evaporates and the smell will make you choke as you lift the cup to your lips. I almost always drink iced coffee - when I don't, I use MAYBE a drop or two of peppermint extract, but even that can get you when it's really hot.

- If you do use peppermint oil in a drink, one drop is enough for an entire cup. Actually more than enough. I tend to drizzle a little of it down the side of the mug and even that is near overpowering - I just put up with it because my gut issues are nasty and often coffee + peppermint is the only thing I can drink that doesn't make me feel nauseated. I use it more as a therapeutic than as something tasty. I have heard that some people will just stick a toothpick or something similar into the oil, and then stir the coffee with it, and that is enough.

- They do make peppermint syrup you can put in coffee without these concerns - I like Torani's - but like I said, I have been using this more like medicine than like a treat, so it's not strong enough. Delicious, just doesn't have the desired effect. ;)

And regarding the sick bunny, thanks. He's doing so much better than he was a few weeks ago, but definitely not back to form (and probably never will be, but if this is his new normal we will make it work).

I assumed you meant the kind of peppermint flavoured liquid that's sold in the bakery isle in grocery stores. Like just for the taste. But thanks for the warnings :)

Bunny is lucky to have an owner like you.

Hah yes, that's probably peppermint extract, and that is a LOT less troublesome and comes with less warnings (though the evaporation when the coffee is hot can still cause fumes that hurt your eyes) - just it didn't seem to be doing enough for me so I tried pulling out the big guns. Peppermint and coffee is definitely a good combo in my book though - stems from my old days when I worked third shift at a gas station and we had seasonal coffees... I found I really liked "candy cane mocha". :D

And thanks - I consider myself lucky and privileged to have my bunnies. =)
