Re: op
(Anonymous) 2021-08-13 02:18 pm (UTC)(link)Yeah I know what you mean. I read it because they were the only group with a full translation at the time but a lot of their antics rubbed me the wrong way. Like, I know it's kind of an unwritten rule to not pick up a novel for translation while another group is still actively working on it but the way the lead translator acted (with this "This novel is my baby and I don't trust anyone else with it" attitude) kind of invited more/harsher criticism than it would have if she'd gone about it in a different way. Especially if the translations isn't as flawless as they like to think.
The thing with the manhua though... I kinda get it? They put in a XueXiao joke panel and antis lost their shit and sent them threats for it etc. so I understand why they dropped it after that.
In general though... the group got a lot of hate by self-proclaimed "anti fujoshis" who called them homophobic and fetishisers for translating wife as, you know, wife and stupid shit like that so I get a little defensive of them, even though I wasn't a huge fan of the translation and the group's theatrics myself.
