Tarantino's acting is less of a problem than Rodriguez' directing. Seriously, the first half of the movie is phenomenal, the Santanico Pandemonium dance is obviously amazing, and then after that the movie just falls off a cliff.

I'm the opposite. I don't like the first half of the movie. It only starts getting good at the dance.

I feel very much the same way. But I've always thought the tonal and asethetic shift was extremely deliberate. Like, whether the deliberately schlocky second half is up your alley or totally not up your alley, I think the fact that it's like two movies ghoulishly chimera'd together into one is very much the intention and the point.

Oh, 100%, the tonal shift is intentional. But the tonal shift isn't really what I have a problem with - if anything, I would be inclined to like the 2nd half of the movie more.

O-kay? Your initial comment very much seems to say the opposite of this.
