Check your gauge through Wraps Per Inch, instead of just "8-ply" or "worsted weight" - wind the yarn snugly around a pencil or finger or some such, and check how many rotations you get per inch, then use that to find your equivalents.

Remember to block your blanket when it's done. And good luck!

Ah! That is a good tip, thank you so much! I never even thought of doing that to compare different brands. :)

Haha blocking is my nemesis, I don't know why I hate it so much.
