I don't think this is my secret (the spelling error makes me think it is but I don't listen to many new fiction mystery podcasts) BUT I have a lot of bones to pick with Serial:

- I don't like the way they introduce people over their dialog, it makes it hard to hear and understand what's happening. (Did Serial start this? I don't remember)
- I hate the fade outs to commercials that aren't added on that platform.
- I don't like the sort of limp interrogation style that comes off like a friendly chat and lets people say what they want but is treated like hard hitting journalism.
- I dislike spending 10 hours (or whatever) on a subject and upturning peoples lives and acting like they'll solve a crime or right a wrong without any real ability to actually do that. (I hate deep dive trucrime now, partially because of this.)
- I guess overall I dislike the clash of the unprofessional, friendly, casual sort of presentation with serious topics that have a huge impact on people's private lives.
