I'm asexual myself but I wish some fellow asexuals would stop pretending to be some sort of persecuted minority for preferring Gen fanworks and not being into shipping.

SA and this is not part of the secret but I want to clarify that this isn't a dig at the OP of secret 5. I just have seen this a few times and especially from a former fandom friend who was very obnoxious about it and secret 5 reminded me of that.

Not gonna lie, bud, some of that anti-ace discourse is a hell of a red flag.

"Ship and let ship" is not a concept some people can grasp, and if you've been hit with a lot of wanky shit in a short period of time, it's easy to get... angry.

I'm ace too, and it isn't. That's not to say it has never happened, but fans who get uppity about preferring gen and fans who are ace are no more interlinked than any other type of person in fandom. Most of the aces I know are shippers and most people I've met who think they're better for liking gen make it more about being "not like other girls" than whatever their sexuality is.

As an ace and a diehard shipper, thank you for this. Like, I get that there are bound to be some aces out there who act like gen stuff is superior, but I think they're the distinct minority.

It's not a huge thing, hence "some". I've seen it a few times and have been personally acquainted to one particular person who felt, among others, personally victimized by Dragon Age's very avoidable romance options.

Yikes. I can't say I've never seen this, because pretty much every group in fandom has a few martyrs in their ranks, but I can say it's been pretty damn rare in my experience. At most, you get some bitching about the porn to plot ratio, but it's not that different from how shippers complain about the porn not being written to their specifications.
