I don't believe in cringe.

If you, a stranger, are embarrassed by something uncool but harmless that I, another stranger, is doing, that is 100% your problem and 0% mine.

I think the concept is all about social control, and mostly used against neurodivergent people.

I totally agree.
I reached this conclusion when I became aware that when I find something cringe it's usually because I personally would put myself in that situation and would expect other people to judge me for my awkwardness in an already awkward situation.

Hence why I find a lot of romance scenes cringe, but not other scenes who people usually deem as cringe. I can't do romance (probably aro) and project my insecurities to the "cringy" scene. It's totally a ME problem.

Interesting point about "social control mostly used against neurodivergent people"!!!

Hm... any fandom-related moments involving this in particular? I do remember changing the channel in the past, if I knew some character was about to embarrass themselves, though I can't remember moments that only bothered me and wouldn't damage the character. Now that I think about it, maybe I was just feeling cringe from bad writing, lol.
