I AM GLAD IT'S NOT JUST ME, THEN. It took me a while to notice too, but now that I have I almost feel bad about ranking up my S.Links -- not enough not to do it, of course, but yeah, it seems manipulative and dickish.

Heh, I agree, but I feel that I should point out that...

THAT WAS HOW I WANTED TO PLAY THE CHARACTER.

I had an insane amount of fun playing a manipulative DICK in that game. It was great! ^^ I absoutely hated Fuka and Yuko, but I dated and bedded them anyway. I intentionally passed up more powerful social links to make sure I maxed every girl in the game. I was actually disappointed that I didn't get to have G-rated sex with my teacher after maxing Hermit.

I think it's because I'm normally a caring, emotional person in real life - it was lots of fun to play an absolutely manipulative asshole. ^^
