I joined a patron for an artist I like some months back. It's not a large amount of money but it's the higher of two tiers.

I haven't been interested in what she's posting for a while now, so much so that I deactivated emails about her new content. I was quite friendly with her and we are mutuals on several sites.
So I saw this as a way to support her, even if I'm not interested in the type of content she produces (certain types of smut I'm not into, and lately she's gotten deep into a fandom I don't like so I muted her on social media as well).
However I'd like to at least switch to the lower tier by now because she's the highest amount I have on patron and I don't get any enjoyment out of it anymore. But she only has a bit over 30 patrons so it would be very noticeable.

I could of course say "hey, money is tight right now got a reduce spending" but since that's not necessarily true I'd have a major bad feeling about it. Ugh this is frustrating.

Do you even need to give the artist a reason?

You could say something like "I'm gonna pull back a bit for now, but still want to support you!"

You don't necessarily have to say you're not into what they're doing, although "Your content isn't what I'm looking for right now, but I still want to support your work, so I'm lowering my tier. Good luck; I'll be around!" Might work?
