I can see why this is a secret, it's pretty condescending.
Has the thought ever crossed your mind that some people might feel that way about your OTPs because those canon relationships remind them of their own friendships? Not all friendships, even 'real' friendships, are the same. Also, it's not like friendships never turn into romantic relationships outside of fiction.
Unless someone turns into a giant asshole because someone don't agree with their head canon, how about we all just let people ship whoever they want to ship.

THIIIIIS, sometimes they do, I have had several romantic relationships that grew out of friendships and some exes who are genuine friends. The feelings aren't so different that there's never any overlap. It's not unrealistic to write that, and there's nothing wrong with seeing a friendship in a fandom and speculating about how it could develop into a romantic relationship, if it did.

It doesn't mean you "don't understand friendship" or don't have any real platonic friends.

DA

Also, seeing "chemistry" between characters is often one of those things that is HIGHLY subjective and HIGHLY influenced by personal experiences and personal desires.

This. All of the relationships that I've had to date have grown out of friendships first, so yeah, to me, seeing characters who are really good friends in canon just makes me even MORE likely to ship them.

Right? Like... I kinda pity the people who always go "it's EITHER friendship OR romance" when ideally it should be both. Romantic relationships where the people involved are not also friends to a certain degree tend to not last long.
