I know it's still August, but I'm starting to plan for mine now.

But if I didn't have to build from scratch and could have the costume instantly without worrying about a price - I would love to have Hugh Jackman Van Helsing costume with props to go with it.

Full on Tudor outfit, or medieval dress, or ranger kit, or gosh so many.

I always go as a doll because I leave everything up to last minute. I curl my hair into ringlets, put on this frilly Victorian-esque dress that's been in my closet for ages, slap a bow in my hair, and say I'm a doll.

My dream Halloween costume would be something from a Clamp manga like one of Yuko's outfits or Sakura's pink costume.

...I'm a cosplayer so I honestly forget about Halloween and then just pull something out. Definitely hoping to have Ashley Riot done well before Halloween. Would be really cool if one of the guys (or girls) I know would actually be willing to be Gomez with my Morticia someday (or do Morticia so I can be Gomez), but probably not going to be doing anything with anyone anytime soon.

I guess if I had somewhere to go for Halloween specifically? The FF7 remake version of Sephiroth in addition to my OG version, and a big black wing. Obviously wouldn't be just for Halloween though.

I actually have a bolt of peach silk taffeta sitting around and a cheap embroidery machine, but so far I can't figure out what kind of stabilizer to use that won't ruin the fabric,* I think I might work the machine to death, and also I don't think I'm good enough at sewing to pull it off. But someday... I'll look silly because I'm fat and almost 40 but I want to try anyway.

*I like the iron-on washaway stuff, which I tried on a silk scrap, but it might ruin the hand of the silk. Tried the cutaway stuff and the machine chewed fabric and stabilizer both up. Plus I'll have to rehoop every single scallop and I dunno if I can keep them lined up.

One of these days I'm going to do Eddie from RHPS, but my big dream is Elaborate Gender Non-Conforming Pirate. I've got a really nice custom corset, could possibly borrow a short chemise... undecided as to whether I think there are skirts or leather pants involved, and not sure which boots will work best.

Going in drag as a sexy witch is also on my list. Halloween is a great time to ditch the layers of flannel, pull out the makeup, and give myself some cleavage, after all.

I don't think about it much, because I don't have the money or energy to make an awesome costume and I always just phone something in. But I've always wanted a really bad-ass Little Red Riding Hood costume, where grown-up Red looks like she lives in a cabin in the woods of some dystopian world with evil sentient wolves that she hunts.

It would be a really high quality costume, with all the materials being heavy-duty and looking very authentic.

She probably wouldn't have a basket, but maybe the quiver for her arrows could be partially woven wood or something. IDK.

I would be Lady Sybil Ramkin, I'm a heavy set middle aged lady so I'd get my hair done up fancy and put a thick leather apron and gloves over a ball gown. One of those cool robot dragons on my shoulder. Thick rubber boots and a tiara.

This sounds like an awesome cosplay but also ... robot dragons? I have a couple puppets and I've seen really cool ones others have made, but the only robot dragons I've seen are the animatronic ones from Home Depot and there's a toy company that makes a gigantic one if you have $25k USD to spare. Neither would work to sit on your shoulders, although the giant one looks big enough to ride. ... one guess what I'd buy if I won the lotto.

Maybe I'm thinking of puppets, it's been two years since I've been to a con. But yeah, ive seen half a dozen people with these sort of shoulder pauldrin mounted dragons about the size of cats. They kind of move their heads and wings and tails a bit, I figured it was similar to those robot dog toys but I really dont know.

AYRT--ah, if they're what I'm thinking of, I own a couple (birthday presents to myself) and they come in enough designs and colors that you could find a swamp dragon-ish one. They're expensive but hey, this is a dream cosplay thread.

Hmm, similar but not quite. Those puppets are cute as the dickens and I love them, but the thing I'm thinking of was a sort of painted hard plastic for the most part. They looked more like they were cobbled together from toys or something than handmade fluffy cuteness. Maybe I just saw the same lady over and over in different costumes with a handmade prop. IDK, but dreams don't have to be realistic and I'd be happier with a cute plush swamp dragon anyway.

As a kid, it was probably the Childlike Empress from The NeverEnding Story. Later, when the movie came out, I really wanted a Matrix type outfit.

Now, if it could be anything and cost, effort, and time was no object, maybe something from Bram Stoker's Dracula (1992), the movie was not for me, but I did really like much of the costume design - not wild about the armor, but the men's suits (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0103874/mediaviewer/rm558511104/), the women's dresses (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0103874/mediaviewer/rm737214720/), and some of the robes, though probably my favorite was Mina's velvet dress (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0103874/mediaviewer/rm2337709313/).

I have my perfect costume - an awesome leather crow mask, a cool black staff with a crow's head carved on the end, gloves that I modified to look like three claws and a long black cape. It looks pretty great.
But Halloween is not a thing in my country and I never have a chance to wear it :(
