Hmmm. Well, what you’re talking about is one of several discoveries that came after Jurassic Park. And InGen, the private security firm, were not involved in the original park in the JP/JW lore. Everything was the result of Hammond’s privately funded research and experimentation.

I really loved in Jurassic World when Dr Wu addresses the reasons for why the park’s dinosaurs lack certain traits and have unexpected others.

InGen stands for International Genetic Technologies (Incorporated), and was the biotech company set up by Hammond to clone extinct animals for what would become JP.

Why TPTB decided to have them morph into practically a paramilitary group under Masrani in JW is unknown.
