Might as well do something about the sunday blues. What compliment did you receive that stuck in your mind and makes you happy to think of it?

I'll start with a very recent one> I apologized to someone about my unkempt looks when meeting up with them and they replied with a "you never look unkempt, you have too much poise for that" and it's been giving me a quiet confidence boost since.

Some random guy told me I looked like a movie star. Made my day.

Someone commented on one of my fics to tell me that it made them cry and I was just so moved by that comment because emotional scenes aren’t my forte, so I was thrilled that my writing moved someone to tears.

The dentist told me that my teeth are not that bad, and that that one place is hard to reach, and I have a couple months leeway before with my wisdom teeth. He was weirdly cheerful too. Nice dude.

I should feel bad about this one because it's rooted in a sexist stereotype, but I was really happy when a guy at work told me in front of a group of our other coworkers that "You have the best control over your emotions of any woman I've ever met."

It just felt good to hear because at a different job, another coworker who I didn't get along with played the "It's her fault because she's too emotional" card against me to HR when we had a private meeting that was supposed to be about fixing our work relationship. I am naturally emotional, but I try really hard to keep it in when it's not appropriate to show, and I was always pretty sure I was good at it and that that coworker who didn't like me thought she could use the "emotional" accusation because of my age and the fact that I'm softspoken (she was also female, but much older and assertive). So that compliment made me feel reassured that she'd been wrong and my efforts to reign in my emotions really did work.

This happened to me last night. So I'm a fanartist and I participate in exchanges and last night my working was getting complimented in the exchange's discord and I popped in to be like aw thanks and the person (who was the mod) was like oh shit you're nan!

So that was pretty nice haha. :3

I also do woodworking now but haven’t received nearly as many compliments since everything is in my house and we rarely tolerate visitors of any kind. I have shared a bit on Facebook but it isn’t quite the same boost since so many will feel obligated to compliment something in that context.

I've been told I'm funny and a good conversationalist. That was huge for me because I'm very shy and I always cringe after I've said anything.

I thought it was both hilarious and flattering when two girls from uni told me during a conversation "you always seem so competent/professional". I'm a mess most of the time, I just apparently can hide it well?

As an adult, after I had my iq tested by the educational psychologist, being told that 'You're very smart.' Which I was buzzing about until I realised having a high iq didn't magically make me better with people. (152 for those curious.)
