Same here - three months of work on the fix-it people said they wanted in a small fandom. In five years I got one comment, though a good number of kudos. I just threw in the towel after that. Then a couple of years ago some new people came into the fandom and it's become a nice little community now. Nil desperandum, and all that.

And a fandom-of-one that I wrote for around the same time has got kudos and comments that I never expected.

Moral of the story is, if readers want more fics from the same author, comment or engage otherwise. Fanart, podfics, whatever. It's hugely encouraging.
