Not a fan of Cuddy, but I hope that he has some sort of competition or hate/love thing going on. Even though Holmes doesn't have that in the books.

Maybe that's who Rachel McAdams is playing. Unless they're doing the one girl who "bested" Holmes. I can't remember what the story was called.

Irene Adler is the only one who bested him, and she's the one he only called 'The Woman', to set her apart from the rest of her gender. (...something of a misogynist, that Holmes)

The guy really was a douche. But a pitiable screwed up douche, almost likeable. Like a hissing, scrawny cat.

Hey, I'll go see the movie, and if RDJ is too charismatic and likeable a Holmes, I will recognize that he is OOC, and may like the thing anyway.

Same, I'm prepared not to care if he doesn't get it right. I like RDJ and I like Sherlock Holmes, and if the two guys mesh, I don't mind.

I saw that thread, so I won't do the obvious 'he is House' thingy.

I can respect the characters of days gone by, but if they get adapted into modern sensibilities... I can quietly like it. Heck, I even liked Disney's Tarzan. Those books were campy fun, but they had it coming.

(I secretly wish for some Asimov movies that include his character Plainclothesman Elijah Bailey and make him less of a cardboard cutout. OMG he has a personality! OOC!)

There's actually a pretty good series of books about Irene Adler by Carole Nelson Douglas. She runs around solving mysteries and has her own female version of Watson that helps her out too.

I may have to check those out. Thanks!
