But she is in the franchise. Granted, I've never really fully understood it myself, but it's Disney's choice as to which girls are their official Princesses. My point is, she is considered a Disney Princess by the company, yet you are hard pressed to find any Mulan items. It frustrates me. ><;

I dunno. Maybe it's just because I live pretty close to the Mouse, but I actually see a lot of Mulan stuff. Which always pleases me because I love her, too.

I would say, though, that there is not as MUCH. I honestly think that she's a little less marketable than the others if just because she IS different. :( It's hard to sell Mulan girly-girl stuff when she...wasn't. I love Disney and all, but it really is mostly out to make money.

Now what I wanna see is how they're going to market Tiana.

That might be it. I don't really have a local Disney store or anything, so whatever I do see is usually all the white Princesses + Jasmine because she also came with a pretty dress (although, Ra damn, I gagged when I saw an official picture of her in a Western style dress ><).

And that also rather annoys me. Because I mean, her appeal was that girls can be strong. Yet there's so little merchandise with her. Why can't I get a kid sized plastic armor set? (Hey, we Christians can have plastic "Armor of God" sets, why not?) Or have something that has her fighting instead of standing around being pretty? *headdesk*

Heh, so am I. Thing is, I see Tiana being sold the same as the rest of the princesses with whatever her trademark pretty dress is. Oy. From The Little Mermaid on (I think), the Princesses did more than wait for their Prince Charming, yet that's always ignored.

Okay, as a person who goes to Disney World more than is REALLY HEALTHY...here is what I have observed. Basically, there are little girls running around in princess dresses everywhere. Everywhere you go there are tiny little girls going ga-ga for ball gowns. If not ball gowns? Tinkerbell and the other fairies.

I COMPLETELY understand what you're saying, really. I was that little girl, too. Just...that's not what sells. It's actually not that easy to find stuff for little boys that is not pirates or Stitch. (And I actually remember last time I was there hearing a little boy crying because his little sister had gotten a costume and he hadn't. I am still unclear whether he wanted one of the sparkly dresses or if they just weren't selling ANY boys' outfits at that time.)

I don't like it. I was never into that kind of girly stuff as a kid (lol I got the pirate outfit) and I would've loved to get some kind of fake sword Mulan thingy. (If...Disney actually sold swords that weren't pirate-sort of things or the real deal at Epcot. I don't think they really want to accentuate the fighting parts...which might have something to do with it, too.) But. Disney is one of the most terrifying and HUMONGOUS companies out there because they know how to market. I think if they knew that stuff would sell, they'd make it. As it is, though, the princesses are a sure bet. Change the market, change what's on it. EVERY TIME YOU TEACH A LITTLE GIRL THAT MULAN'S HELLA AWESOME, YOU ARE CLOSER TO GETTING A MULAN ACTION FIGURE.

I dunno. I mean, they usually try to go semi-period and princessy with their stuff. Tiana's Jazz Age Nawlins, so I'm hoping that they'll do something a little more creative this time.

I actually think that MOST of the 'princesses' they've come out with were pretty awesome. A couple annoyed me a little, but they certainly weren't passive. It's only the REALLY old ones that did that so much.

That's likely why we never see anything else. Everyone just accepts the stereotypes that Disney has continuously successfully marketed and thus we have the current status quo. (Although it does confuse me that they don't have more than pirates or Stitch for the boys. Surely there's some Pixar film merchandise or something? Oy vey.)

I was a mix as a child. I grew up loving dress up and Legos, Barbies and Sonic, watching Beauty and the Beast and Pocahontas, and Titan A. E. But it always annoyed me how everything aimed at girls was pink. Why no blue or green or other color? But yeah, there's a reason I plan on teaching my kids about how Mulan *IS* the most kickass Disney Princess (among other things *whistles and points to icon*).

Here's hoping on something neat for Tiana, too. I don't know much about the period, so I'm praying to be pleasantly surprised. :3

Yeah, a lot of the newer ones are a heck of a lot better than previous princesses. Snow White? Pushover. Aurora? Pathetic. Cinderella? ...Meh, I loved how she kept to her dreams, but not much else. Belle and Ariel were awesome in introducing the awesome princesses we are getting now. *nod nod*
