Re: I'm not sure I would agree, but there was a lot going on in entertainment then.

This is definitely something that I feel about the entertainment landscape right now - it seems like so much cultural activity in the US right now is about a handful of prestige TV shows and Marvel/Disney movies.

Maybe that's why so many of the new fandoms seem to come out of video games, anime, web content and non-Western media.
