same on the mental health, anon. no new mp3 players here, just gradually declining stability and increasing amounts of money spent at the liquor store.

(Hugs) I'm gonna be optimistic and say when you decide to detox, not if, do it with doctor supervision if you can.

Counseling is also good but if you've been drinking as much as it sounds like you may need meds, too. Also a lot of support groups have moved online so it may be easier to find one based on CBT (no, not cock and ball torture) instead of Christianity.

If you're in the US, I think addiction treatment is one of those things that got better coverage under the ACA even if you're not insured.

Life sucks and is stressful for so many people right now, but the... it's not really an upside, but I guess exploitable thing about alcohol addiction from a brain perspective is that addictions are like legos, they all look kind of similar and can be swapped out. You can use a constructive hobby instead of drinking, or get into fancy coffee instead.

The actual withdrawal from alcohol is different from, say, cigarettes, so far as what it does yo your body, so yeah, doctor or clinic supervision for that part if you can, maybe meds.

It's not easy, but it's absolutely doable. Good luck, and more (hugs.)
