While I have a vague memory of seeing it advertised on TV at the time, something else was EVERYWHERE at the time. Despite this, someone thought it was a good idea to release Treasure Planet literally less than two weeks after this other movie. If they were marketing it to children, then they needed to do a better job of handling things. If they were marketing it to a broader audience... well, they still needed to do a better job of it. Or at least change the release date to something not around those highly anticipated films.

But sure, it's because it was a bad movie, and not because Disney forgot their brains for a moment. Keep telling yourself that.
