That said, I'm totally with you about the people who try to shoehorn Ianto and Jack into seme/uke roles -- actually not so much that they do that, as that they get so freaking annoyed if someone puts the wrong person in the uke position. WTFHEADDESKBBQ

127) Head/Desk. All but the most retarded know that fiction =/= reality. We really really don't need you to tell us this blindingly obvious fact. It doesn't matter. We don't read Slash to learn about gays, we read this because it turns us on. If the world tried to live up to the "must be reality all the time" most men would be absolutely pissed, because all that porn out there for them doesn't depict women/lesbians in any kind of realistic way either.

So, tl;dr, go read/watch what turns you on, and don't get your briefs into a twist over the stuff that doesn't.

But we have to deal with getting their hair in our mouths, since heterosexual men rarely, if ever shave down there. So why should I be expected to shave? Double standard!

Some heterosexual men shave, too. But yeah, I've gotten a hair or two. Luckily (unless you are a lot better at deep throating than me which is possible) there is usually an inch or two of clearance before you get to the hair on a guy. Not so for the chick.

Of course, some prefer to trim.

Not true. I smoke pole for a living, and most heterosexual men trim unless they are completely oblivious to personal hygiene and/or the comfort of their sexual partners. Maybe a lot of teenagers and young college age kids haven't figured it out yet, but I guarantee that the majority of men in their late twenties to late forties (sometimes even early fifties) who have experience with multiple partners do a bit of manscaping.

Aangs arrow isn't bright blue, it's grey, and both have identical red backgrounds. Color coding is fail. So is the secret.

Poor choice of caps, maybe, but in most of the other scenes from the show Aang's arrow *is* bright blue.

When I found out that people actually take an issue over what NAME you put in a certain position, I was dumbfounded. It was especially puzzling to find out that people wouldn't even bother to read your fic if you didn't place the names "right". WTF? I almost gave up on fandom at that...

I did give up on Ianto/Jack fic. I'll read an occasional weird pairing (Jack/Rhys) but there was just so, so, so many more insane Janto shippers than sane ones. About the time when someone put up a bunch of screen caps of Jack and Ianto talking to each other as proof that Ianto was a total top all the time, I realized that the pairing just wasn't worth the trouble.

And as someone who's had oral sex with both hairy men and hairy women, I can tell you it depends on the person rather than the gender when it comes to how much pube-age you have to deal with.

I would never ask my partner to shave or wax if he or she didn't want to just like I wouldn't ask them to lose weight or get a haircut for my convenience. It's not cool. In fact, it's downright rude and insensitive.

Yeah, but then a person's willingness to go down on a mouth full of hair varies as well. Sex is a give and take. If your partner finds the clean shaved look a turn on and more pleasant, it's a nice thing to accomodate them, because turned on partners make for much better sex than turned off ones.

Also I'd argue that it's not rude to ask. Keeping your mouth shut when it comes to sex for fear of offending your partner is not healthy. You need to feel comfortable talking to them about your turn ons and turn offs, or else misunderstandings can lead to resentment. It's not like asking your partner to lose weight: something that they probably want to do anyway, but find difficult. Shaving is not difficult or expensive.

Shaving is difficult if you have coarser hair, suffer from skin problems, or just find it painful in general. It takes a lot of upkeep for many women (and men).

It's a lot harder, in my opinion, to deal with shaving or waxing then it is to just deal with trimmed pubic hair during oral sex. It seems like less of a sacrifice to mess with a bit of hair than it is to go through uncomfortable and time-consuming shaving or waxing. That's altering a person's body in a very sensitive place. And I would feel hurt if a partner ever told me my vagina turned him or her off. That would probably be a deal-breaker for me.

You're right that you should be honest with sexual partners, but personally, I would never ask someone to change anything about their bodies. I might confess to them I find it harder to go down on them when there's hair if I felt that way. There could be compromise with trimming or upkeep along those lines. But asking someone to remove their pubes would be too much for me.

I suspect this is just personal preference thing. Everyone has different standards when it comes to behavior in the bedroom.

Why would you assume they'd want to lose weight?

Wether or not they want to lose weight or think they are perfect as is, losing weight is not as simple as buying a razor. It's not something a person can actually produce on demand. If it were, we'd all be the weight our doctors recommend for us.

If your partner expresses a wish to you to shave, and you find the idea repellent, or you give it a try and find it too painful, then your partner needs to back off and understand. It wasn't wrong to ask, but it's wrong to insist if the answer is, for whatever reason, no.

The idea is to communicate not to be selfish. Many times the idea of shaving just never occurred to the woman, and they are plenty happy to comply. Or else they might be a little squeemish, but are willing to comply because the discomfort is worth it the amount of pleasure it gives. Asking isn't the same as ordering or telling somebody to do something. It's being direct, rather than hoping someone will pick up on a hint.

Then why the fuck bother with oral sex in the first place? I personally don't like it, so I'm not shaving my cunt anytime soon.

And that's a fine decision to make, for you. I happen to enjoy oral much more than penetrative sex, so for me, I'm happy to shave.
