129. I epilate mine. It doesn't hurt after the first time or two. I honestly cannot remember the last time I saw a naked woman in front of me that had any pubic hair. Hair traps odor, and even if one bathes everyday, pubic hair still gets musty. (And before anyone comments about men, I expect them to at least trim and, ideally, to bathe before an encounter.)

And honestly, this is not meant to be offensive to anyone, but remember your demographics when asking a question. Fandom in general is filled with the specific type of lesbians and feminists who prefer to abandon any and all customs they feel are in any way perpetrated by the patriach, such as bras, shaving, etc. (Which is not to be judgmental of those who do so, merely stating a fact.) And let's not forget that the majority of fandom women are on the heavy side, which makes it more difficult for them to reach and/or see the whole area to begin with.

Also, culturally. In some cultures, women don't even feel it necessary to shave their armpits. Perhaps some shave their pubic hair and not their armpits, but it's not what one would expect. There are various hygiene expectations around the world.

I know men who are in fandom, but I don't know any fandom lesbians. Which is not to say there aren't any, but it does make the point that one person can't sum up an entire group of people based on their own experiences. That's just ridiculous. Have you taken any fandom-wide polls to back up your assessments? If so, I might actually take you seriously.

You're intentionally reading things into the comment that aren't there. You want to be angry and indignant. That's not cute nor is it clever.

I specifically didn't generalize anyone. I said "fandom women" and "majority". I never said anything about all fandom being lesbians. I never said anything about men not being in fandom. I know many. I also know many lesbians who are in fandom.

This might be hard to believe for someone with a flist of only 55 people, but I actually do know what I'm talking about demographically. I have done various polls and I have read other people's polls. I have seen photos and I have read posts. I've been to several fandom gatherings and conventions. I have a fluctuating mutual friendslist that always sits between 500-600. I've been in fandom for nearly a decade.

Which is precisely why I said "the specific type", because I was not generalizing all feminists nor all lesbians. I never said anyone had smelly genitals nor that anyone was incapable of hygiene. There is a big difference between soaping an area one cannot see and taking a razor to an area one cannot see. My comment, just like the original secret, is purely about shaving. There is nothing about people not washing.

And yes, fandom is a vast space. And I said "fluctuating", meaning I'm constantly meeting new people. And I said that, in addition to photos, "I've been to several fandom gatherings and conventions". I've seen, met and interacted with thousands of fandom people over the years.

It does, and (Obviously not an actual statistic, just an example, but I feel the need, with you, to clarify it as such.) even 25-30% of a "vast place" is a great number of people.

You did not make the connection that "Fandom in general is filled with" could easily mean a significant amount of a group that you admit to knowing is "vast", even at mere 25-30%. This is your own failing, and not something for you to indignantly shout at me about.

Well, if they are abandoning the bra because they think it was perpetrated by the partriachy, then they are far off the mark.

Now, the corset, yeah. But the bra was invented by a woman to free women from the corset. As a busty woman, I need the support of a bra due to gravity. Going around braless with my 44 DDs is just not comfortable.

I've seen far little of that attitude. I generally see the "only girls who have curves and are plus sized are real women" type of thinking in fandom.

Biology fail! Pubic hair is there to actually keep the area clean! And it also traps phermomones.

Honestly if you're against pubic hair then you should think of better reasons other than the "eww it's dirty!" bullshit.

Yes, pubic hair is there to keep the area clean, by whicking the sweat away from the skin and into the hair. The skin may stay cleaner longer, but the hair itself will become musty. And what I said is that the hair is musty. I never said anything about the genitals themselves being clean or dirty.

Hair traps sweat. Crotches are sweaty places. They're also marvelous breeding grounds for the harmeless bacteria we all have on our skin, no matter how often we bathe. The addition of pubic hair creates even more warm, dark, moist places for the bacteria to breed, as well as trapping the sweat.

And since you know so much about biology, I'm sure you know that sweat itself does not stink. The odor comes from the sweat reacting with this bacteria. The more bacteria present, the stronger the odor. Hence, more pubic hair equals more body odor. This is why pubic hair smells musty.

I also never said pubic hair was dirty. I specifically said, even when people properly clean and bathed themselves, it is musty. Reading comprehension fail!
