The director is gay, the screenwriter is gay, many gay people who watched this movie upon release were reminded of their youth and first experiences, and felt that the movie resonated with them.
Verify the bullshit you post, or just consider that maybe this movie was not made to appeal to extremely online GenZ children.

The director of the movie is openly gay, and so is the screenwriter. Get your facts right before commenting. Just because you think that all gay people agree with you and dislike the same movies for the same pearl-clutchy reasons, does not make the creators of the movie straight.
