Also, they started their bullying way before Snape did any of the stuff you're pointing out. And did it occur to you that he started to hang out with pre-Death eater (the people that weren't bullying him and weren't close to the people that bullied him. Terrible, despisable people, undoubtely, but for a very lonely kid who didn't have any better option at the time, is it that unforgivable?) or that being afraid for his safety because of the bullying (and of his father) is what lead him to invent "violent" spells: to canalise his anger and to feel protected in case things went to far one day.

No, I don't think mass murderers need more hugs (wth?!) and I don't think his suffering gives Snape a pass for the way he mistreated his students in return and for having been a Death eater (by the way, there're lines in the text that strongly indicated he never killed when he was. Still bad, but less than what some seem to imagine), but I do think he tried his best to atone and that he succeeded (in part?). Sidenote, while Lily being in danger was the finale straw for his defection and a great motivation for doing his spy work, reading the books there're also indications that she wasn't his only reason and that he did learn how awfull his previous ideology and actions had been and wanted to make up for them.

As someone who has been bullied for being different (I'm autistic), fudge you very very much. No one deserves it and it doesn't help anyone ever. Hope you're a troll.
