I'm not gonna defend this movie or the age gap. What I am gonna do is point out how xenophobic this secret is. OP straight but basically said that since brain development is objective, 17 is a bad age of consent. But the age of consent in most places in America is 18, and the highest age of consent in the world is 21. So, basically youre saying that your country is the one that's objectively correct about the age of consent, while others are just being immoral? And if the age of consent is 18 where they are, do you think that people's brains magically switch over to being ready for sex at 18? Some people aren't even ready at 21. A baseline age of consent is important and needed, but saying your place's age is objectively the right one is pretty messed up, especially if it's literally a year older than the country you're critiquing.
