I'm not a huge authority on fetishes, but aren't there are different types? I mean, couldn't clean and dry be part of the fetish for some? Like for some people into bondage, the look of it is a really important part, so the type of binding matters, but for others, it is much more about being restrained, so it's mostly that there is binding for them.

Plus, as with other things to do with sex and arousal, there are things that good or fine in the moment, in the physical reality of it, that you don't necessarily want to think about in an analytical way. As a writer, I have run up against some things that work for me in real life, but became decidedly unsexy to me on paper when I tried to write out details - I have ended up changing tack, glossing over some things, or leaving things out because of this.

Can't speak for other people, but as someone who does like feet but NOT sweaty feet I appreciate when a fanfic takes those creative liberties. Everyone's foot has just come out of a bath filled with rose petals, and that's how I like it.

(also it does depend on what it is about feet that people like, for me it's more the D/S aspect of being stepped on or giving foot rubs that appeals rather than the reality of feet themselves)
